Marlena Gutierrez is a civil litigator with a diverse background of experience to offer her clients. She has successfully defended clients in bringing their motions for summary judgment regarding premises liability and products liability. She has counseled healthcare entities regarding state regulations for licensure, healthcare privacy, and professional liability. Further, Marlena has represented some of the nation’s largest insurance companies in countless mediations leading to favorable settlements.
A Texas native, Marlena came to North Texas to pursue her legal career at SMU Dedman School of Law. After graduating magna cum laude from Fordham University in New York City, Marlena knew she wanted to practice in her home state and fell in love with DFW. During law school, Marlena was Online Executive Editor of the International Law Review, Vice President of Healthcare Law Society, and a Student Bar Association Mentor. She graduated cum laude.
Marlena joined Hanshaw Kennedy Hafen, LLP in 2023. Outside of the office, she enjoys playing frisbee with her Australian Shepherd, Hoss and painting. Marlena’s favorite authors are C.S. Lewis and Ernest Hemingway.
