Personal Experience

Since joining Hanshaw Kennedy Hafen, LLP in 2018, Trey has represented business and individuals in complex litigation and corporate and transactional matters.

In the litigation sphere, Trey has experience in a wide variety of cases including breach of contract suits, non-compete and trade-secret litigation, and non-subscriber defense. In addition to commercial litigation, Trey also represents clients facing OSHA investigations or citations including representation before the Occupational Health and Safety Review Commission. Trey’s litigation experience goes beyond trial, having represented clients in appeals in several Texas appellate courts and the Texas Supreme Court.

Trey also guides clients through a wide range of business and transactional matters including general business planning and formation, contract drafting and review, employment disputes, and stock and asset purchases.

Trey graduated summa cum laude with a B.B.A in Economics from Sam Houston State University and cum laude from SMU Dedman School of Law. While in law school, Trey interned with the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern District of Texas, and was a Teaching Assistant for SMU’s Legal Research, Writing, and Advocacy Department. Trey also participated in the law school’s Child Advocacy Clinic representing children in the CPS system. Trey is currently a volunteer coach with a local high school’s mock trial team.

Originally from Tyler, Texas Trey now lives in Frisco with his wife, Jacalyn, who teaches kindergarten.
