Peyton attended the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During her time there, she was recognized on the President’s Honor Roll and the Dean’s Honor Roll. Peyton co-authored a research paper titled “Badge of Honor”: Honor Ideology, Police Legitimacy, and Perceptions of Police Violence which was later published.

Peyton went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. During law school, she served as both a Staff Editor and Articles Editor for the Kansas Journal of Law & Public Policy. She received CALI Awards for Estate Planning: Principles, Constitutional Law, and Criminal Procedure, as well as the Payne & Jones Lawyering Award for excellence in legal writing and advocacy. Her commitment to the law extended beyond the classroom. Peyton worked as a summer associate at a mid-sized law firm in Wichita, Kansas, where she gained hands-on experience in family law, estate planning, and business litigation. During her second year of law school, she worked as a legal intern with the University of Kansas Medical Legal Partnership, assisting clients with estate planning, guardianships, and landlord-tenant disputes.
